7 restaurants dishing up FORKSful of international flavor

When it comes to dining out, our two Forks offer lots more options than just hearty Midwestern meat and potato dishes. Although, we really do make a mean hotdish around these parts! There are actually several locally owned eateries serving up some of the best global fare to be found anywhere. Here is a half dozen plus one of my favorites.

LITTLE BANGKOK

4088 South Washington Street, Grand Forks

Spend your lunch or dinner Thai-ing one on at Little Bangkok. While all the food is loaded with flavor, the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle dishes are most intoxicatingly delicious. Their expert sushi chefs are also preparing some pretty amazing culinary creations like the tempura Lobster Bomb, spicy tuna Crimson Dragon and yummy Yummy fried roll stuffed with eel, crab stick, cream cheese, asparagus and avocado. Little Bangkok is now open in a grand new Southside location!

CASA MEXICO

112 14th Street NE, East Grand Forks

Mi casa es su casa, that's their motto at Casa Mexico. Friendly servers make you feel right at home, while bringing unlimited amounts of freshly made chips and spicylicious salsa. With so many muy delicioso items on Casa's grande menu, deciding just what to have is the hardest part. My personal favorites are the steak fajitas, shrimp enchiladas and Pollo Campestre: a grilled chicken breast topped with roasted corn, red peppers, cilantro and creamy queso.

HOUSE OF PUNJAB

3000 32nd Avenue South, Grand Forks

Experience a taste of New Delhi right here in good old Grand Forks! Just a few of the authentically delectable Indian dishes served up at House of Punjab include Veggie Samosas (fried dough pockets stuffed with seasoned potatoes and peas), Tikka Masala (roasted chicken in a spiced curry sauce with bell peppers and onions), Boti Kabab (boneless lamb cubes marinated in a special yogurt based sauce), Biryani (aromatic rice flavored with herbs and spices) and Paneer Naan (fresh baked bread filled with cottage cheese and cilantro).

KING PHO

1206 South Washington Street, Grand Forks

Searching for phonomenal Vietnamese dishes that are royally delicious? Look no further than King Pho! Along with a variety of slurpable noodle soups such as the beef Pho Bo and chicken Pho Ga, the chefs here serve the best Banh mi, steamed buns and spring rolls in Forks.

CHARRAS & TEQUILA

3915 32nd Avenue South, Grand Forks

Taco Tuesday (every other day of the week, as well) was made for chipping, dipping and sipping at Charras Grand Forks. If you're craving one awesome made-at-your-table avocado dish, holy guacamole is Charras' delish! When it comes time for the main course, I say order up some of their famous quesabirria or street tacos...with a mango margarita chaser. They are also the place to find the hottest tamales and Camarones a la Diabla in town! When it comes time for one sweet dessert, the warm, cinnamony churros accompanied by hot chocolate are a must order.

SAKURA

3250 32nd Avenue South, Grand Forks

Looking to stir things up for your lunch or dinner? The delicious Japanese dishes at Sakura are always a winner! Their terrific teriyaki sauce is made in-house daily and used for both hibachi grill and dining room entrees. They stew carrots, celery, onions, ginger and beef for hours before combining it with fresh veggies, steak, chicken or shrimp. Sakura also offers an assortment scrumptious sushi rolls including my personal favorite: the Snow White Roll features tempura shrimp and avocado wrapped in soy paper and topped with spicy crab, eel sauce, spicy mayo and crunch.

CHINO LATINO

1113 South Washington Street, Grand Forks

Can’t decide whether you want a lamb gyro bowl, beef samosas, orange chicken or steak tacos? Why not have it all? You can do just that at Chino Latino! This popular spot serves up Middle Eastern/Indian/Asian/Latin fusion food packed with an array of international flavors for you to savor! Chino Latino currently accepts takeout and delivery orders only; no dine in service available.
