The Greenway
The Greenway consists of 2,200 acres lining the Red River and the Red Lake River as they flow through Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. This picturesque urban space offers countless recreational, cultural, historical and natural resource opportunities. You can hike, walk, run, rollerblade, bike, bird, canoe, kayak, fish or golf, all in the heart of our two cities. Now fully completed, the Greenway includes an all-season trail system, nature preserves, picnic sites and camping areas.
A few unique things the Greenway offers are:
- Disc golf courses - one in Lincoln Drive Park and the other, a new 12-hole course, just off Bygland Road, across from Eagle Point Trail Head, in East Grand Forks.
- Dog park - located in Lincoln Drive Park; offers dog owners a safe, legal opportunity to exercise their pets off-leash, within the city limits.
- Natural play area for kids - approximately 150 square feet in size; features balance beams, climbing ropes, benches and decorative arches; located in a grove of trees, along the lower trail, in the area commonly referred to as Sunbeam (just north of 47th Avenue South).
- Floating dock - located in downtown Grand Forks (just north of DeMers Avenue) it is available for launching non-motorized watercraft, fishing or just river watching.
- Bike repair stations - Three stations (Lincoln Drive Park, front of the Boardwalk area and the Red River State Recreation Area Campground) feature Phillips and flat-head screw drivers, tire lever, handlebar and pedal wrench, torque wrench, hex wrench and manual tire pump.
