On both the North Dakota and Minnesota sides of the majestic Red River, Greater Grand Forks offers an abundance of GRAND spaces for you to enjoy the great outdoors, including The Greenway’s expansive 2,200 acres of beautifully groomed trails.
Our vibrant community features a variety of specialty parks equipped with exceptional amenities, including pickleball and tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball and softball diamonds, outdoor ice rinks, soccer fields, sledding hills, splash parks, outdoor pools, volleyball courts, frisbee golf, dog parks, playgrounds, and much more.
Greater Grand Forks is proud to showcase several specialty parks that cater to diverse recreational interests:
- Kannowski Park is home to the newly updated Rydell Skatepark, perfect for skateboarding enthusiasts.
- Lincoln Park, located along The Greenway, offers a host of activities, including cross-country skiing, a sledding hill, an outdoor ice rink, frisbee golf, fishing, volleyball, well-maintained trails, and a dog park.
- Riverside Park features scenic walking trails, sports courts, fishing opportunities, frisbee golf, footgolf, outdoor ice rinks, inline skating, and an outdoor swimming pool for those hot summer days.
- Ryan Lake, a man-made body of water, provides a fantastic environment for children to learn how to fish and enjoy outdoor fun.
- Sertoma Park is a favorite, featuring a beautiful Japanese Garden, Ali’s Boundless Playground for children, walking trails, and a peaceful meditation area.
- Sherlock Park, also known as “Castle Park,” boasts the most unique playground in the area, offering adventure for kids of all ages.
- University Park is a family-friendly destination with floral gardens, a splash park, baseball and softball fields, horseshoe and tennis courts, and a refreshing spray park.
- Veterans Memorial Park serves as a special place to honor and celebrate the brave individuals who have served in the military.
For even more outdoor adventures, a 20-mile journey west will take you to two incredible options:
- Turtle River State Park, a stunning 784-acre wooded sanctuary, boasts 125 modern and primitive campsites, a charming woodland lodge, group cabins, a mountain bike trail, and self-guided nature trails. Fish for rainbow trout or enjoy special programs in an outdoor amphitheater. In winter, partake in cross-country skiing, sledding, and more.
- Larimore Dam & Arboretum features ample opportunities for fishing, nature trails, bike paths, 144 campsites, a sandy swimming beach, basketball and volleyball courts, a baseball diamond, horseshoe pits, and an adjacent nine-hole golf course. The 26-acre arboretum showcases over 500 varieties of trees, providing a vividly colorful experience throughout the seasons.
